Memorial Cleaning (2025)

In September 2025 the Doncaster-based charity The Victoria Cross Trust came to Kingston Cemetery and cleaned the Trinity House Memorial which commemorated the loss of seven men of the coastguard service who died in 1894.

They also cleaned the civilian war memorial and kerbs which lists the casualties of East Cowes in the Second World War.

Using only hot water and steam they removed a large amount of residual dirt and revealed previously hidden decoration on the Trinity House memorial and enabled the inscriptions to be read on the stone posy holders on the war grave.

They will return in 2026 to carry out more work on the cemetery.
